Building our new store

The move from Murray Street, West Perth to Wembley in July 2000 solved the parking dilemma which had become a real nightmare for customers of Concept Music. However the resulting increase in business in the new location also meant it was not long before we started to run out of space in Cambridge Street as well!

Thinking they might to move yet again in a few years, in 2009 the sudden closure of an Air Conditioning store adjacent to Concept Music provided an unexpected and welcome opportunity that enabled Concept Music to double the size of the store. The resulting expansion and renovation was lengthy and extensive and required removing double brick walls between the 2 premises as well totally revamping of the old space to match it in with new area. Many hours were spent with designers and talking to customers to achieve the desired result which was a more relaxed open shop that still retained the friendliness and warmth of the old shop but also provided the much needed extra display space for an ever expanding range of instruments and room for people to try things in a more comfortable, less cluttered, environment.

Importantly, the new store incorporated not just new brass and woodwind showcases and sheet music (something the “old” shop just could not cater for), but also a large specialised room for acoustic guitars so that customers could sit in an appropriately quiet and intimate area when trying to listen to the acoustics of the guitars. The “sound room” for amps was also renovated, the guitar wall expanded and more space allocate to bass guitars as well as drums kits and a “stage” incorporated for future demonstrations and clinics. The renovation was finished just before Christmas 2009 and the result is a fantastic new store with plenty of space in very welcoming environment.
