Fender Jaguar....Myths Debunked!! Guitar Demo. (07:11)
Many guitarists discount these models as novelty or a 60's fad, but they really are great instruments. They're not just your Dad's surf guitar. They're very versatile. They can't be beat for surf, though. I wanted to debunk some of the BS and myths surrounding the vibrato, tuning, and switching. Pardon my stuttering and mumbling, this is one of my first demos. Hopefully I don't sound like the gearwire guy. YUCK. Check out these resources for more info: www.offsetguitars.com - The nicest folks and the greatest source of info on these guitars around. www.shortscale.org - More great folks. 1. Nice review Rhys

Thanks for the review - I have bought one of these and am waiting for it to arrive (Melbourne) from Concept. I always wanted a block inlay version...

I'm going to put a set of heavy flatwounds on it and play some twanging surf.

  2. Perfection.

Best guitar ever (well in my mind at least). Sounds great clean, sounds great noisy, it seriously does everything. The trem is amazing, especially for those times when you wanna pretend you're Kevin Shields. It's a ridiculously bright guitar though so if that's not your thing it probably isn't for you. But with the right amount of distortion it sounds absolutely amazing.

The pickups in the Jap reissues aren't potted so if you wanna use a stack of gain, you're going to get ridiculous amounts of microphonic feedback, but it ain't hard to pot pickups. The internet will tell you how. Also, if you're an aggressive player, or you want to use lighter gauge strings, you may want to switch to a Mustang Bridge to stop string slips (pretty much everyone I know with a jag/jazz has done it, but I somehow don't have any problems)
